After last night and this morning, he hadn’t a clue as to how he could get past an
evening without being next to Seth. It was like every fantasy coming true in one split second of
time, and he was scared of how to handle it.
The glow that Seth had from telling
The kid scared him, and he was only sixteen too. His few encounters had impressed him
no end, with the way the kid had conducted himself, polite for sure, but with an underlying sense
that he would tolerate no nonsense. Even at the tender age of sixteen he could see that Billy was
going to be a force to be reckoned with.
If the truth were known, Billy intimidated him a bit, the kid was phenomenal, the way
he looked after the household for Seth, the way he actually managed it all, including the budget and
all. It wasn’t normal, a sixteen year old who could tell you where the best buys for steak was or
who could cook you up a five star meal at the drop of a pin.
Thinking back, he also could now see what he missed at their last meeting, when he had
to go over the trust account with the boys. Damn, the questions the kid asked was as tough as they
got, and as his mind recalled the meeting, he got this picture of a dark haired young man, standing
in the background, his chest swelling each time Billy asked something.
In his own way Mike was forbidding to, there was there look when they had surprised the
two boys at breakfast that one time. It was like, he was saying he would give him a chance, but
don’t you dare cross my billy or else. Strange, at the time he thought he had an ally there, and
most likely he did, but one that if crossed would be a holy terror.
Shit, what was he getting himself into? His nerves were on edge when he jumped. The
sudden touch of a hand on his chest almost made him hit the ceiling.
“Jumpy ain’t you?”
“Fuck you scared me Seth”
“Yeah? Hmm, you know Billy isn’t that terrifying Chris.”
“Shit, how the hell.”
